Story Time Takes a Vacation

Regular story time programs will take a break between July 1st and July 16th.  The library is pleased to serve as a polling place for early voting in Fulton County, thus the meeting room will not be available for our programs.  For more information about early voting, click here.  Story time programs will resume Monday, July 19th!

Colonial Times Traveling Trunk Show

Join us at the Roswell Library on Saturday, July 31st @ 10:30 a.m. for a visit with members of the Sons of the American Revolution.  They will bring artifacts from the Revolutionary War era and a few members may even dress in uniform!  No reservations are required and this program is for children of all ages.

Atlanta Author Series Present Joseph Gatins


Atlanta history is filled with family stories that in big ways (and small) have helped make Atlanta the city it is today.

Book Events Around Town

Check out what's happening around town in the book world.   Visit FoxTale Book Shoppe and the Jimmy Carter Library to see who's coming to visit.  Keep in mind the Joseph Gatins will stop by the Roswell Library July 17th @ 2:00 p.m. to discuss his fascinating memoir about growing up in Atlanta.  And don't forget the AJC Decatur Book Festival - it's coming up Labor Day weekend!

Author David Fulmer ... in Turkish!

One of the Friends' favorite authors and a guest last September, David Fulmer, will soon have his books published in French and Turkish. The Istanbul publisher Yakamoz Yayincilik will publish a Turkish translation of the 2009 Shamus Award nominee Mavi Kapi (that's The Blue Door in Turkish) Also, Jass is being released in a French translation, along with the mass market paperback of Courir Apres le Diable.  C'est magnifique! Spanish Story Time

Lingual Kids will be doing a bi-lingual story time (English and Spanish) in the 2s and 3s Story Time on June 23rd at 11:30 a.m. It will be a regular 25-30 minute story time, with books, songs and finger plays; it will just be in English AND in Spanish! No registration is required and the program is open to all 2 and 3 year olds and their parent and caregiver.

Curious Moon Puppet Theatre Presents "Fish and Ships"

Join us for a fun and entertaining show performed by the talented folks with Curious Moon Puppets.  They'll be at the Roswell Library on Thursday, July 1st @ 3:00 p.m.  This program will be a shadow puppet show featuring fish, sea horses, crabs, pirates and an octopus on an underwater adventure!  Ahoy!   Ages 3-7 and a caregiver. Summer Selections for the Mystery Readers' Book Club

There have been a couple of changes to the summer line-up for the Mystery Readers' Book Club.  The current selections are as follows:

Ooops! New Registration Date for the Mobile Science

There was a mistake in an earlier post (that has since been corrected) listing June 15th as the registration date for the Mobile Science Zone.  OOOPS!  We apologize, but the correct registration date is June 22nd!  From the number of phone calls we've received, this is going to be a very popular program, so please call early!  The program will be held June 19th @ 2:00 p.m. and is for ages 6 - 10.

Calling Young Einsteins!

Flag Day: June 14, 2010

Summer Reading for Grown-Ups

Summer, summer, summer.  The general talk is always about summer reading for kids, but it's a great time for adults to catch up on their reading, as well.  The library staff note that adult book circulation is booming.  Click here to visit NPR's website on summer reading.  You'll find a variety of genres to explore!  And don't forget to stop by the Roswell Library to sign up for the adult summer reading program at the Reference Desk.

GED Testing at the Roswell Library

Make a Wave with Cupcakes for Teens

Join us on Saturday, June 26th from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. as Sari McIntyre returns for another fun-filled food decorating class!  Have fun decorating cupcakes with an underwater theme and eat your artwork! Adopt-A-Stream for Teens

Get wet and dirty with this hands-on experiment with water conservation!  We will meet at the library on Tuesday, June 22 at 3:00 p.m. (program will end around 4:30 p.m.) and walk to a nearby stream to learn hands-on how water conservation effects us locally.  This program is co-sponsored by the City of Roswell Enviornmental/Public Works Department.  Ages 13-17.  Registration is required and may be made in person or over the phone by calling the Roswell Library at 770-640-3075.

Water-Wise Gardening Workshop on June 14th

Even though the rains last fall increased the local water levels (and then some), we still need to be conscious of our water use.  To that end, the Fulton County Extension Office and the Master Gardener Program in Georgia will present a workshop at the Roswell Library on Monday, June 14 @ 6:30 p.m.  Join us for an informative evening - bring your questions!

Just for Teens! Make Your Own Marbleized Stationery

Rheta Grimsley Johnson at the Carter Center on June 15th
