Summer Programs for Teens

The Roswell Library will have a wide variety of programs for teens this summer.  Be sure to tell your teens and 'tweens about the Teen Reading Club.  The prizes for teens are super cool!   Please call the Roswell Library at 770-640-3075 for more information.   And remember to call for reservations for the programs that require them.  Have a great summer!

High School Summer Book Speed Date
High School Book Club
Thursday, June 2.  3:00 p.m.
Not sure what book to read next? Rotate through "speed dates" with multiple books to make your reading road map for the summer.  Ages 14 - 17.  Registration is required.  Light snacks.

Hip-Hop Kickoff with C.O.A.C.H.
Monday, June 6.  6:00 p.m.
Use the hip-hop beat to guide your way.  Positive raps about reading, health and life.  Registration is required.  Ages 11 - 17.

Subatomic to Super Sonic - A Magnetic Adventure
Wednesday, June 15.  3:30 p.m.
This hands-on exploration will show you ways to put magnetism and electricity to use for everything from finding your way to sending yourself into orbit!  Registration is required and spaces are limited.  Ages 11 - 14.

Street Magic
Thursday, June 16.  1:00 p.m.
Learn how to perform simple and amazing magic tricks with cards and coins (and mind reading!).  Registration is required and spaces are limited.  Ages 11 - 17.

Shake It Up! Drama Workshop
Monday, June 20.  5:00 p.m.
Participants will be up and at 'em, working together to create their own scenes and characters from randomly selected concepts that they themselves come up with.  Registration is required and spaces are limited.  Ages 11 - 17.

Didgeridoo, Mate!
Monday, June 27.  6:15 p.m.
An Aussie funk jam workshop where you learn how to play the didgeridoo.  Registration is required.  Ages 11 - 17.

It's Astronomic! From Here to ... Infinity
Wednesday, July 6.  1:30 p.m.
Seeing the future might be impossible, but watching events unfold billions of years ago is a snap - just look it up!  A hands-on exploration of our universe, gravity, black holes, and space travel.  Registration is required and spaces are limited.  Ages 11 - 14.

Be Not Too Tame: How To Give a Great Audition
Monday, July 11.  5:00 p.m.
Introduces teens to the process of auditioning for a Shakespearean production.  Participants learn how to work with cold readings from a script, take direction, and self-presentation.  Registration is required and spaces are limited.  Ages 11 - 17.

Improvised Survival: Getting From Nowhere to ... Somewhere!
Thursday, July 28.  1:00 p.m.
If you were stranded, could you find food, purify water, build a fire, navigate your way out, and work with your teammates along the way?  This hands-on workshop is loaded with tips and more.  Registration is required and spaces are limited.  Ages 11 - 14.
